Hank, the protagonist, is called Hank the Cowdog. From beginning to the last page, you will find humor as well as mystery. Characters include a cat, another dog, two birds that look like dinosaurs, and two coyotes. The animals hold interesting conversations with each other. Last but not to be forgotten are Sally May, the Lady of the House, and Alfred, her small son, who feeds scraps to the animals. Sally May favors the cat over Hank the Cowdog, which causes some animosity between the two animals. At the end of the book are samples from Hank Times the official newspaper of Hank's Security Force. Readers will find humor and interesting and educational reading along with codes, quotes, and illusions. The author and family live on a ranch outside Perrytown, Texas.
