A more appropriate subtitle might be "Examples from Biology and Medicine," since this is essentially a collection of essays on various scientific phenomena, and how their study illuminates facets of the scientific process. For example, in the second chapter Jenkins (biology, University of Nevada-Reno) investigates the question of the health benefits of vitamin C and other antioxidants in order to explain the difference between observational and experimental studies. This is a work of popular science, which means that clarity and key concepts are emphasized instead of jargon and detailed study. It also means it's approachable reading material for anyone interested in science and students with non-science majors, but not likely to be of tremendous interest to working scientists or university students of science.
