Narrative cases of prospective and practicing teachers bring attention to the dilemmas and challenges of elementary science teaching and learning, and offering suggestions for improving classroom practice and stimulating critical reflection about science teaching and learning. A beginning chapter introduces the case approach to teaching. Later chapters contain three or four cases each, organized around topics such as assessment, inquiry-based instruction, diversity, and conceptual understanding. Each case includes discussion questions. Tippins is affiliated with the University of Georgia.
