In this story which is the sixth of seven books in the series "The Music Fairies," Rachel and Kirsty are once again trying to help the music fairies regain their magical musical instruments from Jack Frost and his goblins. When they hear that there is a talented new band vying for the National Talent Competition, they are sure that it is Jack Frost using the fairies' stolen instruments. Kristy's father arranges for the girls to get in to hear the band. Sure enough, the goblins are disguised and using Victoria's stolen violin. Victoria herself is hiding out in the stagelights trying to get her violin back to stop Jack Frost's evil plan. The plot is predictable, but that will appeal to young elementary readers who want to see Rachel and Kirsty save the day. Readers who have read other books in the series will understand better what the situation is and why Jack Frost is out to win the contest. There are illustrations in the text and an easy reading level for those young readers who have moved into chapter books. Reviewer: Janis Flint-Ferguson
